   One of the "dangers" of the internet (I hate to use the word "danger",   
   because I don't want to blame the internet for the increase in   
   stalking....that just feeds the logic of those who would suppress free   
   expression)....anyway, one of the dangers here is of stalkers "finding"   
   each other and, you know, banding together.   
      
   Stalking follows certain patterns.  It's just the way humans "adapt" to   
   the conditions they're growing up in and living in.  But because it   
   follows certain predictable, observable patterns, a "culture" of   
   stalking can develop.  Like, stalkers have "their star"....but then, to   
   cover up their obsession, they need a "substitute" too, an avatar.  This   
   is how it's always worked.  You know, you obsess on the bass player but   
   you pretend it's really the uncharismatic drummer.  Come on, surely I'm   
   not the only one who has observed this.  They need "substitutes" through   
   which to express their obsession.   
      
   I don't confuse obsessives with stalkers.  Some obsessives are most   
   harmful only to themselves.  The REAL problem these days with stalkers   
   is that the worst of them are GETTING JOBS just to support their   
   stalking habit.  This is really happening.  Like, they'll try to get a   
   job in the media to get close to celebrities.  That sort of thing.  And   
   they perceive the awarding of these jobs as "validation" and   
   "permission" to continue stalking.  And the worst and most spiteful and   
   vicious of them only get worse the more status, money and security they   
   have.   
      
   What is really, really wrong and menacing here is the unofficial   
   portrayal of a stalker as some street person, poor and unhygienic.   
   Stalkers are like batterers....they can be white-collar criminals, and   
   those guys are often the most dangerous, because they have the resources   
   and legitimate "cover' for their obsessive activities.  And believe me,   
   there is a whole "black market" of information out there for stalkers   
   with the resources to buy that stuff.  You can buy credit card data, you   
   can track people's movements, you can bribe computer tech people, use   
   what they call "social engineering" to ascertain peoples' financial   
   data, their residences, purchasing habits, etc.   
      
   Then, when these privileged stalkers become suspects, law enforcement   
   does similar things : follow them in cars, gather "intelligence" about   
   them, etc.....and you have to understand, these stalkers are DELUSIONAL.   
     They also have a tendency to be self-pitying and victim-blaming.  So   
   if, say, police are tailing them...they say to themselves, 'well, my   
   victims are following ME...so why is it wrong for me to follow people in   
   cars, tap their phones, etc."   
      
   Of course it is bullshit, but the way to fight stalkers is to CALL OUT   
   THEIR TACTICS AND LOGIC.   
      
   They need to be confronted with the fact that the reason they get   
   treated the way they do IS BECAUSE THEY'RE PREDATORS AND CRIMINALS and   
   NOT a part of civil society.  If the police are following them,   
   gathering info on them, it's not the 'same thing', because THEY ARE   
   PREDATORS AND CRIMINALS.  They THREATEN people.  They have a hard time   
   ENGAGING this logic and need to have their faces rubbed in it.   
      
   So you, stalker, are being followed by the police, the FBI, whoever   
   because YOU HAVE THREATENED PEOPLE AND HAVE VIOLATED THEIR RIGHTS.   
      
   I can't believe I'm sitting here, talking to stalkers, explaining to   
   them why they're "suffering" and why the "heat" on them is JUSTIFIED.   
      
   I mean, in my case, they violated my civil rights for YEARS and last   
   year they tried to kill me.  And they WHINE about the 'heat' on them?   
   Once again, you don't VALIDATE their logic by engaging it and you don't   
   VALIDATE their self-pity.   
      
   Mike McAuliffe, you a stalker, thug, pathological liar, harasser,   
   rapist, murderer and criminal....and you are violating my civil rights.   
     THAT'S why you are 'experiencing' 'some discomfort' (to quote one of   
   my doctors).  You have 'excused' yourself from legitimate civil society   
   through your criminal, violating behavior.  DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS?
