Quite a bit of USENET has less traffic nowadays, but many (most?) of
the people who choose to post to USENET rather than use a Web forum or
another single-point-of-failure approach value being able to use the
newsreader of their choice and view posts in the order and threading
they prefer. And a newsreader's killfile or score file can make
someone who floods the group invisible without anyone needing to
report the offender for breaking terms of service on multi-posting
   etc.

I like that people can swing by a.a. and say 'hi' to those they
recognise from 10 or 15 years ago, or even just steer their newsreader
through the anagrams quietly without declaring their presence.

Just a few thoughts. Apologies for this getting a bit long.

ObAnag: 'Too long, didn't read' =
    End orating OD, dolt!
