   John Wesley Rose applied for a position as a sheriff's officer in   
   Michigan.  He completed the first stage of the process without   
   incident, but the 25-year-old Rose had less luck in the second phase.   
   By that time, his arrest warrant from Kentucky had been entered into a   
   national database, and a background check revealed that he was wanted   
   on charges of rape, sexual abuse, and sodomy.  Rose was arrested after   
   being summoned to sign the final employment application.
