From: usteen@asdf.fi              Monthly audits of phone calls to the emergency number in Texas revealed       an unusually large number of short calls. It emerged that operator       Crenshanda Williams, 44, had racked up thousands of under-20-second       calls in her 1.5 years as a Houston 911 dispatcher, by hanging up on       callers. In one case, involving a report of a robbery in which a       shop-owner was killed, Williams was heard to sigh before ending the       call.        As for the other side of the story, her attorney, Franklin Bynum,       explained that she was 'going through a hard time in her life'.       Williams has been sentenced to 10 days in jail and 18 months of       probation.               Crenshanda Williams        = 'Answer calls? I hid, man!'        = Law: 'And she's criminal.'                     Michael Taylor Pinkham visited the police in Nova Scotia in hopes of       securing the release of a friend who was in police custody. Officers       with the Antigonish detachment recognised that Pinkham, 27, was       heavily intoxicated and determined that he had driven to the station.       Furthermore, Pinkham had been ordered by a court not to consume       alcohol. The net result of his venture is -1 people being released       from custody.               Michael T. Pinkham = Him, thick? Amen, pal.                             --       A n n a S h e f l - For email, substitute 'usenet' for its anagram        - "Never eat more than you can lift." --Miss Piggy -        alt.anagrams FAQ: http://theanna.org/grams/        Weird news archive and more: http://theanna.org/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
