    mangled uncounted electrons thus:

   > We're a J-Rock band, composed of two guitarists, a male vocalist, a
   >female vocalist, a bassist and a drummer. We've mostly been doing covers of
   >other J-Rock bands like Asian Kung Fu Generation, Arc En Ciel, Shiina Ringo
   >and a few western bands like Fallout Boy or Green Day.
   >
   > We've been invited by a university to perform at their yearly Anime
   >festival. We watch some anime, but we're not hardcore fans or anything, so
   >we're not sure if we know what are the "hottest" series right now. So we're
   >sort of seeking suggestions on what songs to learn for the festival (it's
   >about 8 months from now). What kind of songs would *you* like to hear at
   >such an event?
   >
   > If it's not too much trouble, keep in mind that we're a J-Rock band, and
   >what instruments we use. That means techno/dance songs with a lot of synth
   >(a lot of animes are like this), or hip hop songs with record scratching
   >(Samurai Champloo is like this) will be difficult for us. If a non-rock song
   >is sufficiently popular, we can probably adapt it to our instruments and
   >style, but our music composition skill isn't all that great, so we'd prefer
   >to play songs "as is" when possible.
   >
   > We already played Asian Kung Fu Generation's Haruka Kanata, one of the
   >intro songs for Naruto, at last years festival as part of a short 10 minute
   >intro to another performance; the university seemed to have liked us enough
   >to invite us for our own 1 or 2 hour show (we're still discussing the time
   >slots with them) for this upcoming festival.

Heh. Anything from the original Bubblegum Crisis OAV series
(*not* BGC 2040, the later TV series!!!) - 1980's j-rock at its
best IMO. Always provided your female vocalist can pull off the
challenge, of course! (If you don't know BGC, one of the
characters - Priss Asagiri - is the lead singer in a rock band,
and the music is an integral part of the series.)
