|    Help Identify - Welsbach Gas Lamp? Cigar    |
|    07 Sep 05 20:44:50    |
XPost: rec.antiques       From: DouglasSteckel@rcn.com              Hello,              I am hoping that someone can help me identify the device in the picture       links below. I recently purchased this at an auction on Pennsylvania, USA.       It may be a lamp but someone suggested it may be a cigarette lighter for a       bar room since the globe has holes in it. It is marked Welsbach & Co. on the       side of one of the pieces of linkage. IT measures approximately 9 inches       without the globe and I think is meant to be hung. The globe is very thin       glass and very delicate. There is also a compression ring around the lamp       end housing which implies that an outer shade, globe of some kind may have       been used. If there is anything else that would help you identify the piece       please let me know.              http://users.rcn.com/douglassteckel/DSC02882.JPG       http://users.rcn.com/douglassteckel/DSC02884.JPG              Any help identifying this piece is GREATLY appreciated.              Thanks for your time.              Doug Steckel              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
