They made extensol and expand-o-matic lines.
Quite alot of these types are around.
Mahogany breakfronts with secretary drawers by SFS have auction estimates
between $1,000 and $1,600 in average condition These are the ones just over
7 feet high and 5 feet wide and about 17 or 18 deep. Shops will sell them
for anywhere from $1,000 to ridiculous amounts of $4 and 5 thousand (where
they then sit as display cabinets for many years until the owners realize
that to be competitive they need to price competitivly ) In a shop you
would expect to pay $2,000 or so. If you were to sell this item to a shop,
you could expect $500-800. It would be a little risky to auction it as I've
seen some without reserve go for as low as $200 as they are not antiques so
that type of collector is not there, but do have value as solid wood
furniture, so the auction MUST be attended by folks who like *that* style or
a couple of dealers wanting it for stock and bidding against each other and
the public. Sadly more often than not it just doesn't happen in a big enough
way and the person auctioning this type of furniture lets it go for far too
   little.
Hang onto it for your grandkids would be my advice!
Oh....I believe this company opened in the 1920's, John Neymeyer (spelling
may be off) was the manager of their head office in Chicago.
