   Can someone please tell me what this strange piece is? My wife just bought   
    it. I'm not sure whether I like it or not, but my biggest problem is I   
   can't   
    even figure out what to call it. It sort of looks like a sideboard, buffet   
    or credenza, but it's lower than any I've ever seen, although the bottom   
    hutch does look like it's for crockery. When I first saw it I thought it   
   was   
    a shoe cupboard, but it's got a marble top, so I doubt it. It was made or   
    imported in NY by Cassard-Romano, which specialised in French furniture and   
    is said to be a "Chateau Original", so maybe its a copy of some strange   
    French design. I've spent hours looking for something like it on the web   
   and could find nothing in the furniture books at the library. Pic posted at
