XPost: rec.antiques       From: nospam@myprovider.com              Can someone please tell me what this strange piece is? My wife just bought        it. I'm not sure whether I like it or not, but my biggest problem is I       can't        even figure out what to call it. It sort of looks like a sideboard, buffet        or credenza, but it's lower than any I've ever seen, although the bottom        hutch does look like it's for crockery. When I first saw it I thought it       was        a shoe cupboard, but it's got a marble top, so I doubt it. It was made or        imported in NY by Cassard-Romano, which specialised in French furniture and        is said to be a "Chateau Original", so maybe its a copy of some strange        French design. I've spent hours looking for something like it on the web       and could find nothing in the furniture books at the library.
