   Yes, it is.   
      
   For a start, it comes from the sparkling mainstream of US-ASCII, not the   
   murky swamps of UTF-8.   
      
   It's also hallowed by tradition, because I've been using it for   
   twenty-five years.   
      
   I thought about discarding it when I learned that inferior newsreaders   
   had started displaying it as a nasty little yellow picture, but I   
   decided that the weaknesses of inferior newsreaders and their inferior   
   users were no concern of mine.   
      
   Alas, it's not as good as Bernadette Wagner's signature, which was   
   "B-)". I liked her signature more than her poems, but she differs from   
   you in having had a successful career as a published poet. No doubt she   
   owes it all to my comments and critique in the happy days when   
   rec.arts.poems contained something other than Dunce's spam!
