   If "JD" is John Donne, I don't love his poetry. In metre it's often   
   incompetent, in thought it's sometimes muddled. Its great merit is its   
   vivid and completely original imagery, but that's not enough to make me   
   love it.   
      
   The only one of the "metaphysicals" I love is George Herbert.
