   Is the cable from the 2600 hard-wired into the switchbox, or   
   does it have some kind of connector that plugs into the   
   switch-box?  Do you know someone local to you who might be   
   competent to fit a new cable to your 2600, or perhaps just a   
   new connector on the old cable?  It would also be good to   
   have someone with a voltmeter check your 2600's power supply   
   unit.
