The presence of CO2.        >        > You're excessively religious, your unwavering faith in        > the Greta Gospels...              The reaction of CO2 to long and short wave radiation has been known since at       least 1856. That experiment is easy to reproduce. put a cylinder of air and a       cylinder of CO2 in the sun. The CO2 cylinder will heat up more than the       cylinder with normal        mixture of air.              There are many you can do at home by yourself. You can argue with physics all       you want. But it is demonstrably correct.              Shortwave radiation (sunlight) passes through most gases. The sunlight hit the       ground and is reflected as longwave radiation. Like what a stove burner emits.       Our aptmosphere consists of many gases like oxygen, nitrogen, water vapors,       and CO2. Most of        these allow a much easier passing of longwave radiation. But CO2 getting hit       by longwave radiation vibrates more. And vibration is heat. So the       aptmosephere heats up more with more CO2. This is not disputed science.              The usual next argument is in the part per million representation of CO2. Pre       industry was around 280 ppm. Now it is 430 ppm. 430 out a million seems super       small. And 280 to 430, while it is doubling, seems nothing in a million total.       But, the importance        of this can be easily demonstrated. Take a fish tank, and add 280 ppm of ink.       Then extend it to 430. The tank gets immensly darker. This is effectivly what       is happening in the aptmosphere. If your vision was based on longwave       raiation, it would be        visible to you.              So this is all super super super basic science. Demonstrable and testable by       you yourself.              -datGSguy       --- Synchronet 3.21b-Linux NewsLink 1.2        * Telnix - Eugene, OR - telnet://bbs.telnix.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
