   YOUR examples of mercury & venus point to the ATMOSPHERE   
   ITSELF, not to any specific type of gas. Change mercury   
   to a 100% CO2 atmosphere and it still sheds it's heat at   
   night -- the atmosphere is way too thin   
      
   HINT:  Mar's atmosphere is about 950,000 parts per million.   
      
   The earths atmosphere is claimed to be 428 parts per million.   
      
   Mars:  950,000 ppm.   
   Earth:  428 ppm   
      
   Which is warmer?
