       Early Laws: The first anti-miscegenation laws appeared as early as   
       1661 in Virginia. Widespread Prohibition: By the early 20th century,   
       29 states still enforced such laws. Supreme Court Ruling: The landmark   
       case Loving v. Virginia in 1967 declared these laws unconstitutional,   
       effectively legalizing interracial marriage across the country.
