That's funny. I don't recall her asking for any sympathy. Why does that
matter anyway? You either care or you don't. It's not that I like her
character at all. There really aren't many characters in this show to like.
But I find it interesting nonetheless. When I don't, I will stop watching
and I won't offer further opinions at that point. I guess what keeps me
watching is to see how the events brought this civilization to the point of
near extinction that we saw in BSG. We're seeing how it all went so
terribly wrong. Stands to reason...knowing what we do...how this world
eventually gets destroyed and the humans all but exterminated...that it's
not going to be upbeat and filled with the usual heroes.

But back to Zoe and the other young people. Here you have a sort of
nihilistic society these kids are being raised in. They have carried the
notion of video games in the form of virtual reality to the extreme...where
for entertainment they take part in the most amoral (if not immoral)
activities in this virtual world that Zoe's own dad is most responsible for
creating and popularizing. It's not at all surprising to me that many of
these youths are all screwed up as a result. Just because a kid gets
"spoiled" with all types of worldly benefits and "stuff" doesn't mean they
aren't looking for guidance and wisdom...and limits even, from their elders.
That's what seems to be sorely lacking...especially in this young woman's
development. You needn't "like" her or sympathize...but you might just try
to understand her. Or not. But if it bothers you, I really don't know why
you would watch. I AM curious. Who DO you sympathize...root for on this
   show? Do you need to?
