   I got the impression that it was Head Six trying to kick Baltar in to   
   growing a pair more or less.

   They did.  They were on Earth at the time of the hollocaust and when they   
   died they uploaded to their own resurection ship.  Presumably,  That's how   
   they lived so long, they were on a resurection ship, so as they grew old   
   and died, they resurected.
