That isn't anything to do with whether or not Glen Larson had worked out
what time period the Galactica would have reached Earth (if at all).

That voice-over can be taken two ways ...

   A. Earth humans, as the viewers, who believe we came from
elsewhere rather than evolving on Earth.

   B. The Galactican planet humans believing they originated
somewhere else (not all of them did believe that).

Either way, the ideas was that 12 of the original human tribes went out and
established the Galactica's home planets, while the 13th tribe went out and
established Earth ... which is why the Galactica is trying to find us.

Which of course brings us back to the earlier person's false fact that the
new "Battlestar Galactica" too closely followed the real "Battlestar
Galactica" ... obviously it did nothing of the kind since in the real
version Earth had already been established by that 13th tribe, not by the
   Galactica (eventually) arriving.
