Understood. I was specifically complaining about the point
when the writers/producers/somebody decided to take the whole
show in a completely new direction, and used a mistake returning
the whatever critters as the excuse/opportunity to execute
    the 180.

I can understand Helen Cutter being off'd - but then, we sort
of knew she was going to come to a bad end eventually, right?

I never considered Stephen Hart (doesn't see right - I am
thinking of Cutter's grad assistant that was screwing Helen on
the sly) a "lead". And, again, how long was he going to be able
to keep everything up in the air?

As for Dr. Cutter, did Henshall quit because of the changes
to the show that led to the Claudia Brown/Jennifer Lewis shift?
I tend to think so, since I wasn't happy with there the show was
going after that point. I believe when he was made subservient to
James Lester from the Home Office that the Dr. Cutter character
was made very limited. I could see Henshall not liking the changes/
    limits to his character.

But, I did like how Ben Miller portrayed Lester. :-)
