   I never had them on VHS. The only time we've ever recorded shows is when   
   unable to watch them at the broadcast time - they then get over-taped once   
   they've been watched.   
      
   Besides, our VHS player died a few weeks ago. The play head developed a   
   fault so playback was patchy and unwatchable. It was going to cost almost   
   as much to repair that as simply buying a new box. :-\   
      
   We're currently trying to decide on whether to get a DVD / VHS combo box   
   (which are getting difficult to find), or a DVD recorder / VHS combo box,   
   or not bother with VHS and just get a DVD / hard drive recorder combo box.   
   The Christmas / New Year sales should be a good time to buy one.
