The Sci Fi channel died a long time ago when they took off showings of
the classic shows and began airing "reality shows". Those shows should
have stayed on the USA Network. The final nail in their coffin was the
   rebranding to SyFy Channel.

And execs like Bonnie Hammer should be forced to watch endless reruns of
   Gilligan's Island/The Brady Bunch/The Partridge Family/The Beverly
Hillbillies for weeks on end with no break!

Research the history behind the cancellation of Farscape and the
continuation of Stargate SG-1 from season 6 and maybe you'll understand.
