XPost: news.groups, rec.arts.comics.dc.universe, rec.arts.sf.tv       XPost: rec.arts.tv       From: kalelfan@yanospamhoo.com              "Steve Bonine" wrote in message news:8oscq6F2h3U1@mid.individual.net...              > KalElFan wrote:       >       >> There hasn't been any       >> substantive challenge to the concept in weeks now.       >       > Here are three substantive challenges to your concept.              Misrepresentation, assertions and reassertions long since refuted,       a few whines, a fallacy, and two Day 1 issues that are so DUH it's       mind-numbing.              I particularly liked the "fatal flaws" part and then you couldn't       come close to naming a single one.              You did cite another possible PR benefit though, when the time       comes, and that's my having antagonized a few folks circling       Bambi-ville. And I do mean a few folks. I don't concede at all       that a few of the most anal-retentive ones incapable of seeing       the big picture are typical of even Bambi-ville. There were all       kinds of good posts in the original thread and I've read others       since. I also believe in redemption, even for the anal-retentive       ones incapable of seeing the big picture. It's just Usenet. Very       few ever admit they've lost the argument. They fight on and       grasp at straws, or nothing in your case. Whatever it takes for       their ego not to have to face the music.              Your two Day 1 issues were that (i) yes it has to be built and (ii)       then marketed. Again, DUH. It will have to have at least one       web site and, if it's implemented on nntp, one server. Then       at least a small base of people will have to be recruited to get       the ball rolling in each of the groups and it builds from there.              Because you're dug in, you miss what's right in front of you. If       you thought about it for a bit before you knee-jerked posted       all this utter nonsense, you might have realized the obvious       way the implementation -- both the building and marketing --       could be jump-started in one fell swoop. That obvious way       isnt quite the best way, but it's close, Understand that I'm not       at all sure Usenet is the best venue. It may just be too far gone       to be salvageable. But that very easy way could jump-start this       and have it going this week! That's how trivial your Day 1 issues       are.              They've been around since Day 1, eh? Do you think it's possible       I've had a chance to think about them? Figure out how it can be       done? There was no need to post it, because implementation       comes later.              The biggest Bambi problem is probably not having enough respect       for users. But they don't have enough for news admins either. I       don't mean the frackwit one or two control freak admins circling       Bambi-ville. Just generally, you're too fracking obsessed with       trying to get admins to follow your checkgroups and rmgroups to       pay any attention to what might actually interest them, especially       the commercial ones. You know, the ones you dis as the problem,       including Google.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
