XPost: news.groups, rec.arts.comics.dc.universe, rec.arts.sf.tv       XPost: rec.arts.tv       From: kalelfan@yanospamhoo.com              "Mr. B-o-B" wrote in message news:wzmXo.34790$v27.27934@newsfe22.iad...              [snip another netkkoplet rant]              Well here's the thing, B-o-B. You must have missed the several posts       upthread that could have educated you on (i) the meaning of the       META+ or Meta-topical tag, (ii) the ease of simply killfiling that tag or       ignoring the thread on any newsreader worth its salt, (iii) my long       history of subscribing and posting to all the groups on the crosspost       list, and hence my having a more informed opinion than, say, any       B-o-B, on the issues that have been relevant to the functioning of       those groups over the years, (iv) the general and various specifically       relevant issues being discussed that are of interest to some readers       of the other groups, (v) the importance of involving ordinary group       users in some of these discussions to the extent they want to be       (and some have), (vi) the fact these are all unmoderated groups and       that therefore (vii) the arbiter of all such considerations set out       above, or any other rationale, is the poster not you or any wannabe       netkkkop.              Now, your assertion that these discussions have been terrorism,       and like "Penis," was bizarre but also a potentially revealing look       into your psyche. So let's consider the likelihood that we're dealing       with a medical condition causing your behavior.              As a board-certified onlinepsychoanalyticalproctologist with a       specialty on Usenet, I can assure you your condition is quite       common and nothing to be ashamed of. You don't think all       those ads on TV for Viagra and Cialis and all that are pitching       to virile, hard-bodied young hockey-playing studs, do you? Of       course you don't. Guys just like you are the target market,       and there are lots of them especially in the Control Freak and       and Netkkkop sectors of Usenet.              Think about it. You come in all here all fire and brimstone,       frustrated that that control freak and netkkkop little member       of yours hasn't been working. You've vicariously watched as       others around you have participated in discussions, and been       uplifted by the increase in knowledge and inspirational rising       up of a plan, to the point that it's reached a climax and in that       last post of mine it just explodes... ah... into an orgasmic display       of euphoria. That "Eureka!" moment when so many of us saw       the light on the owned.* personal group concept.              Well, everyone but you. You felt left out. So left out that you       had to do *something*. So you thought "Why don't I just get       in there and take charge! Tell this KalElFan guy that he can't       do that! He can't embarrass me like this! I'll show him!"              And so in you came -- in a different sense than you might have       preferred -- to, uh... well talk about it. To show us you had an       opinion. And sure, you looked like an idiot with your terrorism       comparison, and the penis remark. But we understand it was       a crying out. And while crying out, the utter hypocrisy of your       posting to the five groups when you say it's terrorism didn't       dawn. It's understandable, because what you really wanted       was the same stage. Maybe you were hoping it would be a       substitute for the other meds, but instead the limpness is       still there as it was when you arrived.              The treatment is, first and foremost, acceptance B-o-B. You       can have a limpinion just like anyone can have any opinion.              If you're of the female persuasion and are just using the       handle B-o-B, my apologies. Please adapt the preceding       to a "penis envy" diagnosis and treatment plan.              But of course that's not what it's about at all. You laid it       up there so I did a riff on it. You don't even believe in your       own lying netkkop nonsense because not only do you post       to the five groups you keep on discussing as you do here:              >> Board members, feel free to chime in but can you       >> see yet that you should be getting on this train?       >> Follow Brad to wherever he takes the discussion       >> next.       >       > I don't think so.              Well how would you know, B-o-B? Why are you speaking       to that issue, B-o-B? I assume B-o-B is an entirely random       sock puppet of somebody that at least *thinks* they speak       for the Board here, hence "I don't think so".              So feel free to come on back and tell us why. Or not. It's       obvious. The owned.* wasn't my idea, or to the extent       that suggestion for the hierarchy was it was entirely       inspired by Brad's first newuse piece on his site. And       it's brilliant, IMNSHO. I'd never have thought of it. It's       outside the box and he has lots of stuff like that on his       site. Your task, B-o-B, is to come in here and whine, or       rationalize, or plead or whatever it is you wanna do, or       not, to tell us why it can't or shouldn't happen.              Because I *GUARANTEE* you there is a market for it       out there. If they know they aren't going to have any       netkkop nonsense from the likes of you, and can get       their group in a hierarachy designed for that, they'll       be in there in an instant.              owned.bradtempleton.*              If Brad had that now he wouldn't be considering       which of many not-quite-right groups to continue       this discussion at.              owned.usenet-classic.*              You can create your own virtual world in there, the       original First Cycle of Usenet, develop whatever rules       or control mechanisms you want. Leather, handcuffs,       the whole nine yards. Whatever floats your boat.       If it's not that, then whatever it is because it's your       group.              Think about the web board version of this. You have       to set up the domain, then the board, then people       have to register, then there's the clunky interface...       this is much more condusive to subscribing to a list       of groups, i.e. posters or groups of posters, and       just clicking over to get an update on the discussion       and add your post. The trolls and such will be far       less likely to see much upside trying to attack it,       especially when the inevitable new features arrive       allowing whitelisting without elaborate moderation       software.              Genius. Just... genius.              Since the last post it did occur to me that some       limits on number of sub-groups and traffic may be       needed. So maybe"              owned.janedoe.h1.s1              Then four more s2 to s5, and repeat for h2 to h5.       So 25 groups at the fourth level, five at the second       level and one at the top for 30 in total. Initially I       think it should be text-only so existing users lock       up that. I can think of many good lapsed posters       who might be drawn back by this concept.              It basically gives everyone their own personal       discussion board, because the sub-hierarchies       don't even have to be set up. Those could just       be a feature added later, the ability to do that.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
