   Spoilers*****

They certainly did find Earth - it was the home of the 13th tribe, which
were skin-job Cylons from Kobol which created their own mechanical Cylons
(much like Eric Stoltz did) to serve them, only to have them turn on them
and nuke the crap out of them (except the Final Five, who rediscovered
Ressurection & ressurected on a spacecraft which traveled at relativistic
speeds toward the Colonies to warn them to treat their machines with
respect, only to find the Colonials at war with the Cylons; the Final Five
then pursueded the Cylons to end the war by promising flesh bodies and
   Ressurection).
The Colonials find this Earth, which was radioactive and uninhabitable due
to the use of the highly radioactive isotope Cobalt Thorium G, which has a
half life of several thousand years; Starbuck finds her rotted corps in her
crashed viper on that Earth, Dee gets depressed and shoots herself in the
head, Adama strikes out with the fleet in search of a habitable planet, only
to face mutiny lead by Geata (and helped by Tom Zarek who has the Quorum of
the 12 assassinated); Adama beats the mutiny and commands the firing squad
   that excecutes Gaeta and Zarek.
Ellen Tigh escapes the Cylon Colony with the help of Sharon, who then
kidnaps Hera from Athena; Galactica only has a few more jumps left in her
because of severe metal fatigue, so Adama leads her on a suicide mission by
attacking the Cylon Colony (which looks like a rocky, oversized Shadow
Vessel from Babylon 5) with the help of the rebel Cylons.
They rescue Hera, but she gets frightened as little girls often do, and runs
off around the corridors of Galactica, which are swarming with all types of
invading Cylons (old ones from the first war, new Centurions, skin jobs,
   Rebel Centurions helping Adama, etc) so everyone is worried about her;
meanwhile Baltar and the model Six that originally seduced him on Caprica
are also helping Adama, but then they see their "head" versions of
themselves, which are really Angels (no, really) who help them find Hera,
and Baltar, Six, and Roslyn have that "Opera House" vision which is really
about CIC, and to help get Hera there safely - seriously.
Baltar smooth-talks Al from Quantum Leap (who is not only a Skinjob Cylon,
but also the one who plotted the destruction of the Colonies in the first
place - yup, he's to blame) into a truce if the Final Five offer them
Ressurection (because the Rebel Cylons helped the Colonials destroy the
"Ressurection Hub" (after Helo retreived Xena: Warrior Princess from the Hub
so they could use her to identify the Final Five) so Cylons can't ressurect
   anymore.
As the Final Five are transmitting the data on Ressurection (by apparently
sticking their hands in a bathtub that Anders is soaking in with his
bullet-damaged head wound), Cheif Tyrol discovers that Tory Foster killed
Cally b/c Cally discovered they were Cylons, so Tyrol snaps Tory's neck; the
Skinjobs open fire, but luckily some dead pilots in a Raptor are jolted by a
floating rock in space which causes them to launch all their nukes at the
Cylon colony; Adama orders a jump, so Starbuck decides it is her destiny to
set the coordinates to the numbers of the song "All Along the Watchtower"
(no, really! that song is of supernatural import in this show) which causes
Galactica to jump to OUR Earth.
They send a Raptor to retreive the rest of the fleet, and they land in
Africa and spy on the prehistoric humans; Baltar talks about breeding with
them, to which the Admiral accuses him of having a "one track mind"; Lee
Adama (Apollo) decides to be a dick and demand that they get rid of their
technology because "Our science has always outpaced our hearts" (or
something like that); Crowley from Supernatural slightly objects, but the
fleet agrees and they all go to settle our Earth with nothing but the
clothes on their backs and maybe a backpack or two.
Starbuck vanishes because she was really her ghost that God had returned
   (along with a brand new Viper) after she had died on that one gas planet;
Adama flies away in a Raptor, showing Laura Roslyn all the African wildlife
& then she dies; he builds a cabin and buries her on the hill where he
periodically visits her and feels sad.
Sam Anders, a half-brain dead Hybrid now, flies the fleet into the sun.
Baltar and Six settle down and farm the land; Helo, Athena, and Hera are
seen walking, then we skip forward 150,000 years to New York City, where Ron
Moore is seen perusing a copy of National Geographic, featuring Hera's
bones, proclaiming her to be "Mitochondrial Eve".
Head Baltar and Head Six are reading over his shoulder; they debate over
whether we are destined for the same fate as Kobol, the first Earth, and the
Colonies (machines turning on us); Head Six doubts it will happen because
the universe is a complex system which still may surprise them; they walk
past a bum in the front of a window of a department store in Times Square,
which has a TV showing an MSNBC special on advancements in Robotics; queue
to the music, this time Hedrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower, as Head
Baltar and Head Six go walking down the sidewalk, affording the viewers a
nice view of Tricia Helfer's backside.
