From: drclu@swbell.net              The below statement summarizes why I have not invested the time to watch       the entire reimagined Battlestar Galactica.              I appreciate the efforts that went into making such a series, and how in       the end the series seems to expand the original story, and even elements       of Galactica 1980 and what was planned into the multiple seasons the       reimagined got in the end.              No, I don't think the classic series has been reduced to a curiousity.       Campy possibly, but a mere curiousity?              Well I guess the best way to put it is both universes were bleak, dark,       and horrific in what happened. Both touch on similar problems and       obstacles.              I remember in the classic series how Adama tells Athena of how he was       passing out lottery tickets to those that would go, leaving behind those       that did not get a lottery ticket. A very dark description told in a       narrative. Told in passing. In the reimagined this would not have       been left to the imagination but shown in gory detail for like 25       minutes of the show, while in the classic series it is touched on for 2       minutes.              Reimagined focuses on how human kind is replacable, and how everyone has       a breaking point. The show in the end shows that we are no more than       machines ourselves, and how the problems they faced were created by mankind.              Classic focuses on how we are more than machines, brought about and       guided by a higher power. We did not create the problem that attacked       humanity, sometimes life just happens and life is not fair. But in the       end humanity can overcome and maintain dignity in the process.              While both series have their simularities, I think I prefer the focus of       the classic series personally.              Jubal              On 5/7/12 12:05 AM, The Saltex Brujo wrote:              > But, i think they could have told the story of the New BSG in a series       > where they could have invented their OWN universe without hijacking The       > Battlestar Galactica              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
