In the late 1990's, an Atari based BBS emerged as a popular alternative to
local PC based Bulletin Boards. That BBS was DarkForce! Running on Atari ST
hardware and software, DarkForce! quickly became one of the busiest BBSs in
the Eastern Kentucky area. Eventually, users from all across the United
States, and even the world, became frequent visitors. With the advent of the
Internet, BBS'ing became a somewhat distant "fond" memory. DarkForce!, like
many BBSs faded into this oblivion...

Phoenix like, The DarkForce! BBS has now risen once again from the mists of
BBS'ing history. Fortunately, in large part due to a wonderful device, the
UDS10 by Lantronix, our BBS can now be accessed by Telnet. Using any telnet
client, you can simply do a "telnet bbs.darkforce.org", hit a few
times, enter your username/password, and you're logged in, to the wonderful
   world of BBS'ing!

At last count, we have 304 registered users and have received over 21,000
calls. We closed down in 1999, and reopened in May of 2005. Since that
time, we have acquired many new users. Being able to access DarkForce! via
telnet, for free, and avoiding a long distance phone call, has helped
   tremendously.

You will find many things are the same, while quite a few have changed. As
always we are constantly working on the BBS to improve things.

Callers may find themselves audited for their birthday. Please enter the
correct date as the system software does use this info to announce users
birthdays. Mass mail may have accumulated since your last call, simply read
through it, until you are caught up, then the system will remember what you
last read. If you get a "connection refused", it simply means someone else
is calling DarkForce! - please wait and try again later.

We are pleased to announce that we are reactivating our monthly prize/$cash
give-away! Each month, one game will be selected as the "Game Of The Month".
The winner of that game will receive a $cash prize. Also, one lucky Atari
winner each month will receive a free subscription to ST Magazine! Check each
corresponding section on the BBS for announcements.

If you have any questions, problems, or suggestions, please leave e-mail or
leave Feedback on the BBS to "darklord" or "sysop". Otherwise, I can be also
be contacted directly by e-mail on the Internet at:

   dark_lord@charter.net

We also have a dedicated web site, "www.darkforce.org" where you can obtain
more information. Simply follow the Atari links.
