You reap what you sow and you're a slave of the one you serve. "Freedom"
from authority results in anarchy, chaos, and slavery to moral
debauchery, not real "freedom". Likewise, if you serve the desires of
your old nature, you are a slave to that nature.

Freedom, therefore, does not mean the absence of authority but
deliverance from sin’s dominion into the righteous rule of Christ.
Scripture teaches that every person serves one of two masters—sin or
obedience. Paul wrote, “Do you not know that if you present yourselves
to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey,
either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to
righteousness?” (Romans 6:16, ESV). No one lives without a master. The
question is not whether we will serve but whom we will serve.

Before salvation, man obeys the desires of his fallen nature and reaps
corruption and death (Romans 6:20–21; Galatians 6:8). Sin promises
pleasure but pays wages of death (Romans 6:23). Christ’s redeeming work
frees us from sin’s tyranny, not so we may act lawlessly, but so we may
serve God in righteousness. “Having been set free from sin, [you] have
become slaves of righteousness” (Romans 6:18, ESV). True freedom is the
power to do what pleases God, no longer forced by sin to disobey Him.
This leads to holiness and eternal life (Romans 6:22).

Christ’s freedom differs from political or social liberty. It is
spiritual freedom—the deliverance of the heart from rebellion against
God. Thus, when Scripture commands believers to submit to governing
authorities, it does not contradict our freedom in Christ. “Let every
person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no
authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by
God” (Romans 13:1, ESV). Submission to civil authority is an act of
obedience to God’s higher authority. Peter echoed this harmony: “Live as
people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but
living as servants of God” (1 Peter 2:16, ESV).

Therefore, the one who obeys sin reaps its fruit—death. The one who
obeys righteousness reaps sanctification and life. Freedom in Christ is
not license but liberation to serve a new Master who leads to eternal
life through His grace (Romans 6:22–23).

   --
Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God
   raised Him from the dead?

That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death
penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death
satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John
2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your
sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.

On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on
the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).
