What's the main point of Ruth 2? God rewards humble faith with
providential favor. Ruth’s loyal devotion leads her into Boaz’s field,
where God’s grace begins to unfold through his kindness and protection.

   Main divisions of Ruth 2:

   1. Ruth’s humble provision-seeking (2:1–3)
   2. Boaz’s gracious favor and protection (2:4–16)
   3. Ruth’s return and Naomi’s recognition of God’s hand (2:17–23)

   Insights from Ruth 2:

God works through ordinary obedience to display His extraordinary grace.
Ruth’s faith shows how the Lord provides for those who seek refuge under
His wings. Boaz models the compassion of a redeemer who acts not from
obligation but from covenant love. Naomi begins to perceive God’s
   providence working through Ruth’s faithfulness.

   What’s unique about Ruth 2:
This chapter uniquely shows God’s providence in motion through simple,
everyday acts—gleaning, greeting, and giving. Nowhere else do we see
such a vivid picture of grace woven through ordinary labor, revealing
that God’s unseen hand governs even the smallest details of human life
   to accomplish redemption.

How this passage points to Christ:

         • Christ the Gracious Redeemer – Boaz foreshadows Christ, who
welcomes the outsider and protects the weak through covenant
           love.

         • Christ the Provider – Just as Boaz ensured Ruth’s abundance,
Christ provides the Bread of Life to those who come to Him in
           faith.

         • Christ the Protector – Boaz’s command that Ruth be kept safe
mirrors Christ’s spiritual protection of His people from the
           power of sin.

         • Christ the Source of Refuge – Ruth finds shelter under Boaz’s
wings, prefiguring the believer’s refuge under Christ’s saving
           grace.

   Applications for the church:

Believers should practice compassion and generosity, recognizing God’s
providence in the ordinary. The church must reflect Christ’s kindness to
the poor and outsider, demonstrating tangible love rooted in faith. God
often works quietly through faithfulness and integrity to accomplish His
   redemptive purposes.

   Evangelism applications for the world:

The lost, like Ruth, wander in need of sustenance and safety. Sin leaves
man exposed to judgment and emptiness. Yet Christ, the true Redeemer,
invites all to find refuge under His grace, satisfying the soul and
securing eternal life. Those who humbly turn to Him, as Ruth turned
toward Boaz, will discover God’s abundant mercy and provision.

   --
Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God
   raised Him from the dead?

That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death
penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death
satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John
2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your
sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.

On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on
the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).
