XPost: alt.christnet.bible, alt.christnet.christnews, alt.christ       et.christianlife       XPost: christnet.bible, christnet.bible.study       From: usenet@christrose.news              What’s the main point of Ruth 3?              God reveals that redemption begins with the Redeemer’s grace and is       received through faith that acts in obedience. Ruth heard of Boaz’s       kindness, believed his favor was true, and came to rest under his       promise. Her coming reflects the sinner’s faith-response to God’s grace       already shown.                     Main natural divisions of Ruth 3              1. Naomi’s plan for Ruth (3:1–5)       2. Ruth’s approach to Boaz (3:6–9)       3. Boaz’s promise and provision (3:10–15)       4. Naomi’s confidence in Boaz’s redemption (3:16–18)              Insights from Ruth 3               • Faith comes by hearing and leads to obedience. Ruth believed what        she heard of Boaz’s grace and acted in trust, not self-reliance.               • Redemption rests entirely on the Redeemer’s willingness and power,        not on human worth.               • Boaz’s initiative and integrity show that true redemption fulfills        both justice and mercy.               • Ruth’s obedience demonstrates how faith responds to grace with        humble dependence, not presumption.               • Naomi’s instruction, Ruth’s obedience, and Boaz’s response       display        the harmony of faith, grace, and divine providence.              What’s unique about Ruth 3              Ruth 3 uniquely portrays redemption from the human side of faith’s       response. While Boaz’s grace and willingness take center stage, Ruth’s       approach pictures how faith acts upon what grace has revealed. This is       the only place in Scripture where a person literally requests redemption       from a kinsman-redeemer, showing the relational nature of grace and       faith. It reveals the believer’s role to rest in the Redeemer’s promise       while the Redeemer completes the work.                     How Ruth 3 points to Christ               • Christ the Kinsman-Redeemer – Boaz’s role foreshadows Jesus Christ,        who became our near kinsman through His incarnation to redeem those        under the curse.               • Grace That Seeks and Receives – Just as Boaz first showed kindness        and provision to Ruth, Christ first reveals His grace, drawing        sinners to Himself through the testimony of His Word.               • Faith’s Response to Grace – Ruth’s coming to Boaz mirrors how the        sinner responds to God’s call, coming in humility and trust to        receive mercy.               • Righteous Redemption – Boaz’s refusal to bypass the nearer kinsman        shows that redemption must be accomplished lawfully. Likewise,        Christ fulfilled the law perfectly before redeeming mankind.               • The Pledge of Redemption – Boaz’s gift of six measures of barley        prefigures the assurance believers receive through the Holy Spirit,        the pledge of our full redemption.               • Rest in the Redeemer – Naomi’s call for Ruth to wait until Boaz        completed the matter pictures the believer’s rest in Christ’s        finished work, confident that He will not cease until He brings His        plan to completion.                     Applications for the Church today               • Rest in the assurance that redemption depends on Christ’s grace and        power, not on human effort.               • Live by faith that acts in obedience, trusting the Redeemer’s        promise even when the outcome is unseen.               • Encourage one another to rest under the Redeemer’s wings, as Naomi        encouraged Ruth to find refuge in Boaz.               • Reflect the Redeemer’s character by extending grace, integrity, and        kindness to others.               • Wait patiently for Christ, our Redeemer, who will not rest until He        completes His work of redemption in His church.                     Evangelism applications               • The lost remain outside the covenant of grace and face judgment        without the Redeemer’s covering.               • God takes the initiative in seeking sinners through the gospel,        revealing His grace and inviting faith.               • Like Ruth, unbelievers are called to respond by trusting the        Redeemer who has already shown grace through His death and        resurrection.               • The gospel offers safety, rest, and eternal inheritance under        Christ’s redeeming wings.               • Those who refuse the Redeemer’s offer remain exposed to loss and        condemnation, but all who come to Him in faith receive complete        redemption and rest for their souls.              --       Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God       raised Him from the dead?                     That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death       penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death       satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John       2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your       sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.                     On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on       the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name       of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).                     https://christrose.news/salvation                     To automatically receive daily Bible teaching updates with colorful       images and website formatting, subscribe to my feed in a client like       Thunderbird:                     https://www.christrose.news/feeds/posts/default              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
