[continued from previous message]              him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and       gnashing of teeth.       [14] For many are called, but few are chosen.              Mark 12:13-17              The Question of Paying Taxes       Mt 22:15-22; Lk 20:20-26              13 (Mk 3:6; Lk 11:54) They sent to Him some of the Pharisees       and some of the Herodians to trap Him in His words.       14 When they came to Him, they said, "Teacher, we know that You are true       and swayed by no man. For You do not regard the person of men,       but truthfully teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar,       or not?       15 Should we pay, or should we not pay?"       But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why test Me? Bring Me       a denarius that I may see it."       16 They brought it, and He said to them,       "Whose image and inscription is this?"       They said to Him, "Caesar's."       17 (Ro 13:7) Then Jesus answered them, "Render to Caesar the things       that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."       And they were amazed at Him.              [13] And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians,       to catch him in his words.       [14] And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou       art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men,       but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to       Caesar, or not?       [15] Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy,       said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.       [16] And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and       superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.       [17] And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that       are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at       him.              Matthew 22:15-22              The Question of Paying Taxes       Mk 12:13-17; Lk 20:20-26              15 (Mk 12:13-17; Lk 20:20-26) Then the Pharisees went and took counsel       to entangle Him in His words.       16 (Mk 3:6; 8:15) They sent their disciples to Him with the Herodians,       saying, "Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God       truthfully, and are swayed by no one. For You do not regard the person of men.       17 (Lk 2:1; Mt 17:25) Tell us then, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay       taxes to Caesar, or not?"       18 (Jn 8:6) But Jesus perceived their wickedness and said, "Why test Me,       you hypocrites?       19 Show Me the tax money." They brought Him a denarius.       20 He said to them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"       21 (Ro 13:7) They said to Him, "Caesar's."       Then He said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are       Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."       22 (Mk 12:12) When they heard these words, they were amazed,       and left Him and went on their way.              [15] Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him       in his talk.       [16] And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying,       Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth,       neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.       [17] Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute       unto Caesar, or not?       [18] But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye       hypocrites?       [19] Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.       [20] And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?       [21] They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore       unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are       God's.       [22] When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went       their way.              Luke 20:20-26              The Question of Paying Taxes       Mt 22:18-22; Mk 12:13-17              20 (Mt 27:2; Lk 20:26) They watched Him and sent out spies who pretended       to be righteous men, that they might seize Him in His words to hand Him       over to the power and authority of the governor.       21 (Jn 3:2) So they asked Him, "Teacher, we know that You speak       and teach rightly. And You do not show partiality, but You truly       teach the way of God.       22 Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"       23 (1Co 3:19) He perceived their craftiness and said to them,       "Why do you test Me?       24 (Mt 18:28) Show Me a denarius.       (Gk. denarius, a coin worth about a day's wage.)       Whose image and inscription does it have?"       They said, "Caesar's."       25 (Mt 22:21; Mk 12:17) He said to them, "Then render to Caesar       what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."       26 (Lk 20:20) They could not catch Him in His words before the people.       And they marveled at His answer and were silent.              [20] And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign       themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they       might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.       [21] And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and       teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the       way of God truly:       [22] Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?       [23] But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?       [24] Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered       and said, Caesar's.       [25] And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be       Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.       [26] And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they       marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.              Mark 12:18-27              The Question About the Resurrection       Mt 22:23-33; Lk 20:27-40              18 (Mt 22:23-33; Ac 4:1-2) Then the Sadducees, who say there       is no resurrection, came to Him, saying,       19 "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies       and leaves his wife behind, but leaves no children, that man must       take the wife and raise up children for his brother.(Dt 25:5.)       20 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and when he died,       he left no children.       21 The second took her and died, leaving no children, and the third likewise.       22 The seven had her and left no children. Last of all, the woman died too.       23 In the resurrection, when they rise, whose wife will she be?       For the seven had her as wife."       24 (Jn 20:9; 2Ti 3:15-17) Jesus answered them, "Do you not err,       because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?       25 When they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given       in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.       26 (Lk 20:37) Now concerning the dead rising, have you not read in the book       of Moses, in the account about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying,       'I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob'       (Ex 3:6.)?       27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living.       You therefore do greatly err."              [18] Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection;       and they asked him, saying,       [19] Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife       behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife,       and raise up seed unto his brother.       [20] Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying       left no seed.       [21] And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the       third likewise.       [22] And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.       [23] In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall       she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.       [24] And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err,       because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?              [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
