[continued from previous message]              and before the leaders and all the assembly by the door of the tent       of meeting, saying,       3 (Nu 26:64-65; 14:35) "Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not       in the company of them that gathered against the Lord, in the company       of Korah, but died in his own sin and had no sons.       4 (Jos 17:4) Why should the name of our father diminish from among       his family, because he has no son? Give to us a possession       among the brothers of our father."       5 Moses brought their case before the Lord.       6 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:       7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right.       You will certainly give them an inheritance among their father's brothers,       and you will cause the inheritance of their father to pass on to them.              Numbers 27       [1] Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of       Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh       the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah,       and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.       [2] And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before       the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the       congregation, saying,       [3] Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them       that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah;       but died in his own sin, and had no sons.       [4] Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family,       because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the       brethren of our father.       [5] And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.       [6] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,       [7] The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a       possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt       cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.              "No matter where you are, what you're going through; use what you have       and make the most of it," said the young woman in a TV interview. Her words       prompted me to listen carefully to the full story. I learned that she was one       of six sisters working toward nursing degrees. They were once homeless       and struggling, yet they worked together to reach their common goal.       And at the time the story aired, all six sisters were completing       the nursing program at a local university.              Numbers 27 tells the story of another group of sisters who worked together       and supported each other. The five daughters of Zelophehad made an appeal       about an inheritance law. They gathered together and stood before Moses       to plead their case, saying, "Our father died . . . for his own sin       and left no sons. . . .       Give us property among our father's relatives" (vv. 3-4). God answered       with this revolutionary statement: "What Zelophehad's daughters       are saying is right. You must certainly give them       property as an inheritance" (v. 7).              The five sisters came together and sought God's mercy as they stood before       Moses. And God provided what they needed as they banded together before Him.              Working together isn't always easy as believers in Jesus. But as we seek God's       wisdom and direction with humility, we'll find He can help us serve       well together in Christ.              Reflect & Pray              How can you work better with other believers in Christ?       How does it encourage you to serve with others?              Dear God, please show me how to work with other       believers to accomplish goals that honour You.                     3) Daily verses taken from Billy Graham Evangelical Organisation              Words in Season Scripture Memory Tools              Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 7 - Upheld by His Hand              Is 41:10              10 (Jos 1:9; Isa 41:13-14) Do not fear, for I am with you;       do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you,       yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.              10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:       I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;       yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.              Beth had the same recurring nightmare: she was running along a cliff,       then she slipped, and fell headlong, into a bottomless ravine.       Falling, without control, without end, falling, falling, falling...       Beth's dream may be one many of us identify with. The sense       of losing control can be nightmarish, and we may fear falling       without end, without remedy. Financial failure may be the chasm       that we face, or professional disgrace. Personal relationships       may go out of control, and we look into a never-ending       ravine of pain and misunderstanding       But God says, "Don't be afraid; I am holding you up."       Like the father who helps his child learn to swim,       God holds us above the water. We may not feel his hands;       indeed, we may suspect that he lets us go just so we can       do it on our own. But he promises that he doesn't let go.       "I am with you." he declares. "I give you strength       and hold you up."       God's promise never to let go takes on new meaning       in a world where relationships are temporary and life is       uncertain. We do not need to fear, for he is with us.       We can relax and stop striving, for he is our God.       His strength becomes ours; amid all our sin and rebellion,       he undergirds us with his righteousness. We cannot fall,       for he holds us firm.              Application              a) Under what circumstances have I felt myself "falling"?              b) How does God's promise in Is 41:10 help me to have faith       in the midst of my fears?              4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland              Ps 1:3              He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,       that brings forth its fruit in its season;       its leaf will not wither,       and whatever he does will prosper.              3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,       That bringeth forth his fruit in his season;       His leaf also shall not wither;       And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.              5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:              When you are Angry of Vengeful              James 1:19-25              Hearing and Doing the Word              19 Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear,       slow to speak, and slow to anger,       20 for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.       21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and remaining       wickedness and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able       to save your souls.       22 Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.       23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man       viewing his natural face in a mirror.       24 He views himself, and goes his way,       and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.       25 But whoever looks into       the perfect law of liberty, and continues in it,       and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work,       this man will be blessed in his deeds.              19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear,       slow to speak, slow to wrath:       20 for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.       21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness,       and receive with meekness the engrafted word,       which is able to save your souls.       22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,       deceiving your own selves.       23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer,       he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:       24 for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway       forgetteth what manner of man he was.       25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty,       and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer,       but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.              Remember God's promises when You pray              The Lord's prayer                     [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
