A personal encounter in daily life is just that. No one has declared war
against you. Now read the verse you thought you quoted.

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good
to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and
   persecute you;” (Mat 5:44)

Where is war mentioned? When you come home and see your daughter or wife
being raped, gang banged, or physically attacked would you just tell you
daughter or wife to turn the other cheek?

There is a huge difference between a war and things personal, or persecution
   for ones beliefs.

The JW’s just use the scriptures improperly like coward passive people that
want others to die for them.

Jhn 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life
   for his friends.

1Jn 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life
for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Can you do that? Would you take a bullet for me?
