XPost: alt.christnet.bible, alt.christnet.christnews, alt.christ       et.christianlife       XPost: christnet.bible, christnet.bible.study       From: usenet@christrose.news              2 Samuel 8: You Should Reign With Christ              https://christrose.news/2025/12/2-samuel-8-reign-with-christ.html              Introduction              God granted David victory in every direction and established his throne       in justice. This chapter shows how God lifts His chosen king and gives       him triumph so he may bless God’s people. In Christ, the greater Son of       David, God gives believers a share in His reign through the victory He       accomplished by His death and resurrection.              Proposition              You should reign with Christ.              By claiming His victories              David claimed victories God gave him on every side (2 Samuel 8:6, 14).       Christ gives you greater victories through His death and resurrection.       His death removed sin’s penalty (Romans 3:23–26; 1 Peter 2:24). His       resurrection broke sin’s power (Romans 6:4–11). His future return       removes sin’s presence forever (1 Corinthians 15:51–57). You claim these       realities the way Scripture commands: know that you died with Christ       (Romans 6:6), count this to be true (Romans 6:11), and yield your body       as an instrument of righteousness to God (Romans 6:13). Christ’s triumph       becomes your strength when you take Him at His Word, depend on His       finished work, and walk in obedience by the Spirit (Romans 8:11–13).              By investing in His Kingdom              David dedicated all the spoils of war to the Lord (2 Samuel 8:11). He       reinvested every victory into God’s purposes. In the same way, Christ       calls His people to invest their gifts, time, and strength in His       kingdom (Matthew 6:33). The Spirit equips every believer to build up       Christ’s body (1 Corinthians 12:4–7). Christ reigns now, and your labor       is not in vain when it aims at His glory (1 Corinthians 15:58).       Believers reign with Christ by giving themselves to His work, His       people, and His mission.              By resting in His work              David enjoyed God-given rest as the Lord subdued every enemy (2 Samuel       8:1–14; 7:10–11). Christ gives a deeper rest. He finished the work of       salvation by His death and resurrection (John 19:30; Hebrews 10:12). He       offers rest for the weary who come to Him (Matthew 11:28–30). You reign       with Christ by resting in what He already accomplished instead of       striving to earn favor. Rest strengthens obedience and fuels       perseverance, because confidence rests in Christ’s completed victory       (Hebrews 4:9–11).              By reflecting His justice              David ruled with justice and righteousness for all his people (2 Samuel       8:15). Christ reigns in perfect righteousness (Revelation 19:11). He       calls His people to reflect His justice in relationships, choices, and       conduct (Ephesians 4:24–32). As the Spirit renews the heart, believers       speak truth, forgive others, pursue purity, and show Christlike       compassion (Colossians 3:12–14). This displays His reign to the world.       Obedience becomes the evidence that Christ truly rules in the heart       (John 14:21).              Invitation              David’s victories paint a picture of what God offers us in Christ. David       faced enemies on every side, and the Lord subdued every one of them.       Scripture uses that same pattern to show us the real danger every person       faces without Christ. Sin brings guilt before a holy God. Sin exercises       power over the heart, pulling a person toward choices that destroy. And       sin’s presence, if left unchanged, leads to judgment. These are not       small matters. They touch every part of life, and no one escapes them by       personal effort.              But Christ stepped into our world to lift these burdens. He died for our       sins and rose again so God could forgive fully and freely (1 Corinthians       15:1–4). His death satisfies God’s righteous judgment. His resurrection       opens the way to new life. Anyone who turns to Him—anyone who calls on       His name—receives complete forgiveness and a standing of peace with God       (Romans 10:9–13). He breaks sin’s power so you no longer serve it as a       master. He promises a future where sin’s presence disappears forever.              So if you have carried guilt, or fought battles that exhaust you, or       wondered whether God could ever receive you, Christ offers Himself to       you. Change your mind about sin, come to Him as the One who died and       rose for you, and call on Him with an honest heart. He does not turn       away those who seek Him. He brings you into His kingdom, gives you His       victory, and teaches you to walk in the strength of His grace.              --       Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God       raised Him from the dead?              That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death       penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death       satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John       2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your       sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.              On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on       the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name       of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).              https://christrose.news/salvation              To automatically receive daily Bible teaching updates with colorful       images and website formatting, subscribe to my feed in a client like       Thunderbird:              https://christrose.news/feeds/posts/default              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
