|    Why is the word "memra" so important?    |

XPost: alt.christnet.christianlife, alt.religion.christian, alt.       eligion.jehovahs-witn       From: .robert@mu.way              “Memra” Is the word that the ancient Israelites used as a substitute for       the four chapters used as the Name of God. The Jews at the time of and before       of Jesus also used “logo” as the replacement for 'memra’ . The priests       of Israel fully well understood that and so it was part of their       understanding. The use of those words was specific when used in the context       surrounding it that spoke of the Power of Yehovah, His wisdom, Might, and       Lordship.              This also explains why in John 1:1 what the purpose of the Greek word       “logo” was used.              Jhn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the       Word was God.              Jhn 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.              Jhn 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made       that was made.              Jhn 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.              Some might think it strange or confusing yet bear in mind the use of the       Words Yehovah God in the Old Testament              Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they       were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,              Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heaven and the earth, when they were       created, in the day that the Lord God made the heaven and the earth:              The common understanding to the word “logo” in greek was used       philosophically for the most part, without any regard to the one true God.              There is much more on this topic, but it cannot be refuted historically, yet       it gives a distinct and clear understanding to the use of the word “word”       in the NT As well as in the LXX. According to the surrounding contextual       usage.              Hope this helps some.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
