XPost: alt.christnet.bible, alt.christnet.christnews, alt.christ       et.christianlife       XPost: christnet.bible, christnet.bible.study       From: usenet@christrose.news              The Preservation of David’s Seed Through Covenant Faithfulness (2 Kings       11:1–3)              Main Point              God preserves His covenant promises even when they appear on the brink       of extinction. Athaliah seeks to annihilate the royal line, but God       secretly preserves one heir to fulfill His word to David.              Fulfillment in the New Testament and epistles              God’s promise to David finds its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ,       the Son of David, whose kingdom God establishes forever (Luke 1:32–33).       Though Satan repeatedly sought to destroy the promised seed, God       preserved Christ according to His sovereign purpose (Galatians 4:4;       Revelation 12:4–5). God’s covenant faithfulness does not depend on human       rulers but on His unchanging will (Romans 11:29).              Application to the church              The church rests in God’s faithfulness, not visible circumstances. Even       when truth appears suppressed and wickedness seems dominant, God       preserves His redemptive purposes. Believers trust God’s promises and       remain steadfast, knowing that His word never fails (2 Corinthians 1:20).              God Preserves the King Through a Faithful Remnant (2 Kings 11:4–12)              Main Point              God uses faithful servants to guard and reveal His chosen king at the       appointed time. Jehoiada acts courageously to protect Joash and publicly       establish him as king under God’s authority.              Fulfillment in the New Testament and epistles              God revealed His true King, Jesus Christ, in His appointed time, guarded       through obscurity until His public ministry (Mark 1:15). Just as Joash       was hidden until the proper moment, Christ appeared according to God’s       sovereign timetable (Acts 2:23). God often works through faithful       servants to advance His redemptive plan (1 Corinthians 4:1–2).              Application to the church              The church serves as faithful stewards of God’s truth. Believers guard       the gospel, proclaim Christ boldly, and submit to God’s appointed order.       Faithfulness often requires courage and patience before public       vindication (Hebrews 10:36).              God Overthrows Usurped Authority (2 Kings 11:13–16)              Main Point              God judges illegitimate rule and removes those who oppose His covenant       purposes. Athaliah’s reign ends abruptly when confronted by God’s       ordained authority.              Fulfillment in the New Testament and epistles              Christ will overthrow all illegitimate authority and destroy every enemy       at His return (1 Corinthians 15:24–25). Earthly powers that exalt       themselves against God stand under judgment (Colossians 2:15). God       exalts His Son and brings all rebellion to an end (Philippians 2:9–11).              Application to the church              The church does not fear tyrants or false authority. Believers submit to       Christ as the true King and refuse allegiance to systems that oppose       God’s truth. God will judge all rebellion in His time (Romans 12:19).              Covenant Renewal Restores Godly Order (2 Kings 11:17–20)              Main Point              True restoration begins with renewed covenant commitment to the LORD.       Jehoiada leads the people to reaffirm their allegiance to God, resulting       in the removal of idolatry and the restoration of rightful worship.              Fulfillment in the New Testament and epistles              The new covenant in Christ establishes a people devoted to God through       faith in His blood (Luke 22:20). Christ cleanses His people and destroys       idolatry of the heart (Colossians 3:5). Believers enter covenant       relationship through Christ’s atoning work (Hebrews 9:15).              Application to the church              The church must continually reaffirm loyalty to Christ alone. Worship,       obedience, and separation from idolatry flow from covenant faithfulness.       Renewal comes through repentance and devotion to God’s truth (2       Corinthians 6:16–18).              God Brings Peace Through Righteous Rule (2 Kings 11:21)              Main Point              God grants peace and stability when His appointed king rules according       to His purpose. Joash’s coronation restores order after tyranny and chaos.              Fulfillment in the New Testament and epistles              Christ reigns as the Prince of Peace, bringing reconciliation through       His cross (Ephesians 2:14–16). His righteous rule secures eternal peace       for His people (Isaiah 9:6–7; Romans 5:1).              Application to the church              The church lives under Christ’s peaceful reign even amid a hostile       world. Believers submit joyfully to Christ’s authority and proclaim His       kingdom until He returns (Colossians 1:13; Revelation 11:15).              --       Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God       raised Him from the dead?              That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death       penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death       satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John       2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your       sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.              On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on       the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name       of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).              https://christrose.news/salvation              To automatically receive daily Bible teaching updates with colorful       images and website formatting, subscribe to my feed in a client like       Thunderbird:              https://www.christrose.news/feeds/posts/default              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
