   LIES REFUTED DIRECTLY FROM SCRIPTURE   
      
   1. “Fire means total destruction”   
      
   Refuted by weeping, gnashing, torment, no rest, day and night.   
      
   2. “Lake of fire is symbolic, so punishment isn’t real”   
      
   Symbols communicate truth consistent with their imagery, not the   
   opposite. Revelation explicitly defines the experience as torment forever.   
      
   3. “Death removes sin automatically”   
      
   Romans 6:7 speaks of union with Christ’s death, not physical death.   
   Hebrews 9:27: “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes   
   judgment.” (9:27, ESV)   
      
   4. “Resurrected unbelievers are sinless”   
      
   John 5:29: “Those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.”   
   (5:29, ESV)   
      
   5. “God would never punish eternally”   
      
   Jesus says eternal fire was prepared by God Himself (Matthew 25:41, ESV).

   Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God   
   raised Him from the dead?   
      
   That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death   
   penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death   
   satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John   
   2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your   
   sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.   
      
   On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on   
   the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name   
   of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).
