XPost: alt.christnet.christnews, alt.bible.religion.christian       From: usenet@christrose.news              The claim that the replacement of the Tetragrammaton with Kurios in       later manuscripts constitutes a lie or a translation error fails to       account for the internal testimony of the New Testament and the divine       oversight of the written Word. The primary issue is not the scribal       habits of the third or fourth centuries, but the specific, inspired       choices made by the New Testament authors in the first century.              The New Testament writers did not merely stumble upon a corrupted text;       they were moved by the Holy Spirit to employ Kurios as the definitive       title for Jesus Christ, precisely to identify Him as YHWH. When Paul       writes in Romans 10:13 that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord       (Kurios) will be saved, he is intentionally quoting Joel 2:32. In the       Hebrew text, the name is YHWH. By applying this directly to Jesus, Paul       is not falling victim to a later scribal error; he is making a       theological declaration under inspiration. If the use of Kurios were a       "lie" or a violation of honest translation, then the New Testament       itself would be founded upon a lie, as its authors consistently use       Kurios to apply YHWH-specific prophecies and attributes to Christ.              Furthermore, the existence of early fragments like Papyrus Fouad 266,       which contain the Tetragrammaton, actually strengthens the argument for       Christ's deity. It proves that the New Testament writers were operating       in an environment where the distinction between the Hebrew name and the       Greek title was known. Despite this, they overwhelmingly chose to       identify Jesus as Kurios. In Philippians 2:9–11, Paul states that God       has highly exalted Jesus and given Him the name which is above every       name. For a monotheistic Jew like Paul, there is only one name above       every name: YHWH. By concluding that every tongue must confess that       Jesus Christ is Kurios, Paul identifies Jesus with the very name found       in Isaiah 45:23.              The transition from the Tetragrammaton to Kurios in the Septuagint       manuscripts was not a conspiracy to hide the truth, but a reflection of       the reality that Kurios had become the recognized equivalent for the       Divine Name in the Greek-speaking world. The New Testament authors       adopted this convention to demonstrate that Jesus is the one true God of       the Old Testament manifested in the flesh. To reject the use of Kurios       as a reference to YHWH is to reject the inspired method by which the       Apostles revealed the identity of Jesus Christ.              --       Have you heard the good news Christ died for our sins (†), and God       raised Him from the dead?              That Christ died for our sins shows we're sinners who deserve the death       penalty. That God raised Him from the dead shows Christ's death       satisfied God's righteous demands against our sin (Romans 3:25; 1 John       2:1-2). This means God can now remain just, while forgiving you of your       sins, and saving you from eternal damnation.              On the basis of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins, call on       the name of the Lord to save you: "For 'everyone who calls on the name       of the Lord will be saved'" (Romans 10:13, ESV).              https://christrose.news/salvation              To automatically receive daily Bible teaching updates with colorful       images and website formatting, subscribe to my feed in a client like       Thunderbird:              https://www.christrose.news/feeds/posts/default              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
