   DJ Taylor, Orwell biographer and all-round busy bee wrote into this week's   
   Spectator to complain that Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica had been unfairly   
   slagged off in that magazine's worst sacred cow albums. He said Trout Mask   
   was one of the greatest records ever made. I like 'The Dust Rolls Forward   
   and the Dust Rolls Back' a lot but not that much.   
    My alma mater Exile on Main Street took a slagging too but you either get   
   that or ya don't and if you don't you ain't got no ass, nor soul.   
    I liked a description of The Clash's London Calling: 'one half catchy track   
   and about three hours of grey skiffle.'
