   Paul Foot,  the crusading journalist and scourge of the establishment, died   
   some weeks ago now. There is a good 11 page tribute to him in the latest   
   issue of Private Eye (1116), the magazine he kept returning to and which   
   proved best able over the years to support his unique brand of journalism.   
   It includes one disciple's view that he was "as good as Orwell"; someone   
   whom Foot, not surprisingly, admired greatly.  He even locked horns in a   
   good natured way with Claud Cockburn revealing as Richard Ingrams notes "the   
   doctrinal gap between the young Trotskyite and the old Stalinist".   
      
   The tribute as it appears in the magazine doesn't appear to be online but a
