He loathed capitalism and the right and       stated it openly. I can't remember he wrote it but in 1946, with a       suspicious glance at the right he considered totalitarianism of the left       the more important battle in the post-WWII world. I don't personally have       an ax to grind on this, I just take him at his word.              >>Holding the view you do I wonder if you've ever read his non-Animal       >>Farm/1984 output. They are the source for what I wrote originally for his feelings       on socialism and the right. Again, I take him at his word.              > Therefore, lets discuss GO with regard to his principal stuff - and       > then we find that he was in fact the most outspoken author of the       > leftist relativism that is responsible for the fall of the West during       > the last century.       >       > Sorry - have to go - Revolution against Big Brother in Ukraine and       > all that stuff.       >       > (Fascinating that I have been railing in anticipation of these Commie       > bastards for the past year and half)       >       > bmp              I'm not sure how someone can discuss that Orwell is a closet convervative       without noticing his other writings [including near the end of his life]       where he clearly states he remained a socialist and suspicious of the       right. Sticking to AF and 1984 would paint a one dimensional picture of       one of the great writers of the last century.              Good luck to Yushchenko and all, but I'm horribly sceptical of reforms       east of Poland. Hopefully I can look back and say I was wrong to be       worried.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
