|    For John Rennie-re libels    |

From: sheepdoctor@hotmail.com              It's really quite extraordinary how John Rennie's rant--see 'A Dead       Newsgroup'--ignores common sense utterly and denounces those who disagree       with John Rennie as a racists, 'rightists' and 'not genuine'. This of course       is not so extraordinary when you realise that John has the tragic gift of       Marxist distortion at his disposal. I'll leave it to other readers to judge       whether it is wise or sensible to view the world that way when one is       approaching one's eighth decade.        Some points: it should be quite obvious that Bayle, even if you disagreed       with him and two-fisted as he often was, *was* 'genuine'- why else would he       argue so often and at such length? Because he's really a lefty?        This became a dead newsgroup not because of 'racists' and 'rightists' but       because the majority of people here were left in an untenable position over       9/11 and Iraq. We saw some antics here from people renowned for their       left-wing jurisprudence and seemingly committed to an Orwelline hatred of       totalitarianism and bullshit and those elements within a culture --writers,       artists, academia and power-seeking politicians--who are are particularly       susceptable to bullshit and totalitarianism. Those antics made me come to       believe that their jurisprudence was priggery and their seeming commitment       against totalitarianism was mostly cant. The wrong end of the telescope view       that has become so common.        The lies the Left have dealt in--especially since the terrorist mass-murder       in London last week--beggar belief. That there are people earning good solid       English pound sterling writing in English newspapers that the war in Iraq is       responsible for that particular slaughter makes me feel a bit giddy.        I can't be bothered to trawl through the archives of this newsgroup but I       wouldn't mind betting that some finger-wagging member of the Left denounced       the invasion of Iraq as wrongheaded because Islamic Fascist Terrorism and       the barbarous, cruel and tyrannical regime of Saddam Hussein had no known       links. I also wouldn't mind betting that whoever said that will at some       point in the last week blithely said that the London bombings were the       payback for Iraq and if the Allies would just.... This is the       sitting-on-a-shitpot-in-nappies level of insight the Left brings to debate       on the subject.        I presume that like that cretinous monster George Galloway you salute       Saddam's indefatigability?        In the final the analysis the Iraq invasion may well have been bungled and       those of us who reluctantly supported it may be proved wrong but when I see       the people on the Left sneering at people willing who risked being blown to       pieces by fascist terrorists (that the Marxist BBC calls insurgents) so they       can exercise their right to vote I think that the Left is tragically failing       to grasp the challenges of the 21st century.        It may turn out though that you, John, are wrong and that the invasion was       the start of a road away from the political chaos, corruption, tyranny,       serfdom, dictatorship and casual slaughter of the Islamic world. Gaddafi's       folded- democracy has a chance in Iraq and voices raised in Iran- do you       want to see Iran with a nuclear factory? Do you think that Islamic Fascist       Terrorists would now *not* be in the market for a nuclear dirty bomb if the       allies hadn't invaded Iraq? If you think that then you are in a state of       terrible ignorance.        Though arguments here about what George Orwell would have thought about       current events were always frowned upon (it was only a parlour game to me,       but it seemed to rattle some people) it seems quite obvious that he would       have have realised that the growth of Islam in the west--and those on the       left that wish to pander to them--is inimical to western civilisation as it       stands, let alone the kind of society that Orwell wished for. He would have       been sharply critical of the Left's pandering in this matter and quick to       denounce his old adversary: the lefties that despise their own culture and       side with all sorts of villainy and tyranny to that end- see Galloway and       the Guardian and the BBC on any given day.        You call me a 'rightist'- it's true I'm conservative about some things and       radical and progressive about others: I fail to see how any intelligent       person in touch with reali life could be otherwise in this epoch.        You also call me a racist. Yes, I once used the word 'nigger' on this       newsgroup and did so in a spirit of anger and defiance of political       correctness and priggery and also in exasperation at a certain kind of       behaviour I see every day from Afro-Caribbean males and which I find       repugnant and which bedevils the lives of people less robust than me and       which the organised Left pretends doesn't exist or if it does acknowledge       it, blames it on 'white culture'. I reject the official Left's view of this.        I am not a racist, however I feel that a full and frank discussion of the       realities of a multiracial society and the political project of       multiculturalism and the implications of a growing Muslim population would       be very useful but once again the Left falls silent and the BBC, which has       elected itself a sort of Ministry of Truth, actively stifles and strangles       debate and distorts the truth.        I am not a racist but I will never be railroaded into the kind of US Campus       Political Correctness, nor will I recognise the political language invented       by the Left to control debate on important subjects. That's what I have       always maintained here and that's what you don't like. Tough. Think up       coherent arguments instead of playground swipes and non-sequiters.              ROBBIE              --       Caviar to the General       http://london.journalspace.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
