   Charming story I read after reunification:  There was an immediate   
   surplus, all over east Germany, of statues of Lenin & Stalin.  Mostly   
   they were scrapped.  But in one city -- I think it was Leipzig -- the   
   municipal council had an idea: they would keep their statue of Lenin   
   as a memorial, but find ways to make it ridiculous.  The suggestions   
   of schoolchildren were particularly solicited.  Alas, even Google   
   seems not to know how that came out.
