Most of the doctrinaire PC-ers have had many demonstrations here of the
intellectual dishonesty of their position vis a vis humour that they won't
be drawn except for maybe some tight-lipped and righteous allusion to me
being a member of the Nazi Party because I dare to say that all human beings
are fair game for laughter, not just targets licensed by Berkeley.
Culturally, the Left's outlook is a collective delusion and like all really
tasty collective delusions (see organised religion) it has taken off with a
vengeance because it has attempted to democratise talent in the socialist
fashion and most importantly persuade people that the utter crap is really
rather good and, if the project is seen through - and I see no backlash
against it among the white middle class students who lap up Chomsky and
Marilyn Manson and hate their parents - they will destroy and remake
aesthetics completely. How else do you explain the obscenely repetitive Maya
Angelou getting the seat next to Shakespeare on all the academic syllabuses.
If Orwell had lived long enough I like to think it would have been
impossible for him to ignore the growth and dishonesty of what Harold
'Merde!' Bloom calls the University of Resentment and its implications. From
there his vision of a socialistic England: a sort of vast eastern bloc
council estate with a few union jacks and some nice pubs would have crumbled
into the dust and the full realisation - that he already knew when he saw
the idiocy of the pansy left about Hitler - of the true nature of Left Wing
thought as practised by the majority would have shone through: enemy of wit,
enemy of truth, enemy of talent, father of rancour and most of all policer
   of thought.
