   Indeed. I admire some of the plays - I wrote him a fan letter last year -   
   but he really is the most heinous prick when he gets onto the subject of   
   nukes.   
   No mention of Iran's nuclear weapons programme (let's hope the yanks develop   
   the bunker buster nukes Pinter rails at because the Prez of Iran has boasted   
   that he will be flogging weapons grade uranium to whoever wishes to buy a   
   whack of it. That situation is not a pretty prospect but Pinter will be a   
   goner by then and shrouded in the hagiographic laurels of the Left - along   
   with that bullshitter and hypocrite Arthur Miller).   
    The Hiroshima bomb for Pinter is merely the US warning the world of its   
   fascist intentions. I saw him say it a couple of months ago and when he said   
   it I thought: stupid cunt.   
    By keeping his playwriting remit open in the broadest possible terms,   
   Pinter has managed to avoid ever really getting to grips with the world and   
   getting into the nuances: his world is as black and white as a Brothers   
   Grimm story. People in the theatre are often like this: the world of the   
   imagination takes them over. An award winning playwright and director friend   
   of mine could be brilliantly incisive when dealing with a script or   
   directing; but if you got onto the subject of, say, 9/11 he'd tell you with   
   a straight face that George Bush and the CIA planned the 9/11 attacks and   
   that the jumbo jets were actually guided missiles.   
    The reason for these highly intelligent people taking refuge in   
   hypocritical, one-eyed conspiracy theories and SWP bollox is simply because   
   the truth is too difficult for them to face.
