   In the alumni magazine of my high school, the address of the   
   graduation speaker, one Tim Weiner '73, includes:   
      
     The White House continues to spout its moral certainties, to mouth   
     political platitudes that give the appearance of solidity to pure   
     wind, to wield secrecy and fear as a sword and a shield to protect   
     their power.   
      
   No quotation marks, but perhaps he could reasonably expect his   
   audience to recognize the phrase.   
      
   LBJ also lives:   
      
     Last piece of free advice:  The only thing in the middle of the   
     road is white lines and road kill.   
      
   Mr Johnson, IIRC, made it yellow lines & dead armadillos, which IMO is   
   better poetry, making us all Texans for the nonce.
