   I suppose many of them are just playing for time and working out an   
   acceptable homily. Martha's gone for 'it's trivial nonsense - don't you know   
   about gender disparities in workplace salaries and the size of the national   
   debt'? - standard ostrich stuff. Others in the coming week will haul out a   
   rag-bag of post-colonialism and so on. The Guardian in England is already   
   finding its feet in that direction.
