   Witch Project on. A genuinely scary film in my opinion. MR James for the   
   Nirvana generation - a brilliant wind-up worked on the James principle of   
   prosaic detail then turn the oven up slowly. These three cocky kids go out   
   looking for a witch in the Maryland woods and end up being scared shitless   
   and possessed/killed by the witch. In my boozy way - have you noticed how   
   television is eminently bearable once you've slowed your faculties to a   
   snail's pace with the old Dame Ethyl - I started to muse on how the whole   
   thing could be read, if you like that sort of thing, as an allegory of the   
   wanky Left's love affair with multiculturalism and the Other. Out they go   
   into the woods, full of glibness, and they're soon involved in something   
   they can't understand, can't control, which controls them and which   
   ultimately kicks their cocky asses anvil-hard - they end up screaming and   
   gibbering and being made to stand in the corner: kid you not.'
