   I don't agree. I think Burgess is clever and punchy most of the time - he   
   suffers because he did a lot and did more than one thing - often despised.   
   You'd like Roger Lewis's bio of Burgess which is a breathtaking 400 page   
   slag-off. I liked it to because the authorial voice was so exasperated and   
   bilious it had me howling with laughter - but it never altered my admiration   
   for Burgess.   
      
   His two volumes of memoirs are faves of mine.
