   It's the general shallowness and lack of first principals. Plus, since the   
   age of television, the best intellects or politicians are only as good as   
   their photogeneity and housewife appeal. Years ago you had politicians who   
   could translate Thucydides and generally have a brain and probity beyond the   
   low cunning of today. It's all fucked, basically.
