   I can only say that some people who found me riotously funny turned on a   
   sixpence when they found my political and cultural opinions were not the   
   same as theirs. People I respect have found me amusing and interesting -   
   what more can you ask for? I wouldn't expect to be able to rasie a smile in   
   someone who is so ecstatic about 'unspeakable croc rumble'. Plus I twitted   
   academia a long time ago and you've never really got over that.
