I was thinking more of the Dead-Joke Zone being a reinfication of an
abstract category, a Vahalla for jokes that have lost
   their point.

So: I was wandering lost and alone in the Dead-Joke Zone. My pores were
open to half-way frissons, little jokes that had lost their point. I
couldn't stop calling up forgotten wheezes. The combination of tenderness
and disgust that I felt for these dinosaurs made me feel most peculiar. What
did that blonde say last night that got me onto this jag?
